You could try to open a quail egg without quail egg cutters, but that would be like opening an oyster without an oyster shucker. Quail eggs, small as they are, have a very tough shell. Cracking them with your hands is messy and difficult and using a knife yields inconsistent results. These quail egg cutters make breaking the shells clean, easy and consistent.

I really like this cutter! I have always tried cutting open my homegrown quail eggs with a fork, but little bits of shell got into the food, and I didn't eat it. I saw this, and HAD to have it! You just stick the small end into the hole, close the scissor like things, and the top pops off like a bottle top off a Coke! The only nitpick was that some of the quail eggs are huge, so the blades cut off a smaller piece of shell. This doesn't create any problems, but it was just something I noticed.
