Are you having trouble sharpening your knives? At KORIN, we can sharpen virtually any knife: Japanese or western style (except serrated knives.) Do you need an extra-sharp edge for a special event? Send your knife to Korin for a tune-up. We will sharpen them by hand, using a variety of Japanese water stones. We can put a precision edge on any knife! Prices vary from knife to knife. Traditional knives such as yanagi, usuba, and deba, require more labor and will cost slightly more to sharpen.

I would like to point out that a certain review claimed that it takes entirely to long to have a knife sharpened. First of all, I do not think that the reviewer took the time to understand the time and care placed into the sharpening and renewing of the blade. The thing about a good quality Japanese blade is that after sharpening, not only will your blade be restored but, it will actually be sharper and cleaner than before. This is not something that someone can just go home with a wet-stone and do themselves. A stone is for upkeep only and does not do the job as well as someone with a trained hand and eye and a good water wheel. I would also like to say that if you do not have a back-up blade to use while your best blade is being sharpened, then you can't count yourself a serious chef now can you. Each time I have been into Korin, it has been a joy. The sales girl, who's name I really need to get, is always extremely helpful and knowledgable. In fact, the last time I was in, the computer said that they were out of what I wanted and she checked anyway and managed to find it. All of this took place 40 minutes after they should have closed and there was no rush at all. If time is so important, then I think taking the time to get to know the people at Korin and secure the proper tools is well worth the investment.

I discovered the Korin store walking in NYC with my wife about a year ago. Now we each have our own set of favorite knives that we are jealous over! Their show room is amazing, definitely has a charm to it. The staff is great, friendly, polite and very knowledgeable. The are very mindful of your needs and give straight-forward recommendations, they really work with you to find the right knife for you based use and skill level. [...]. If you need a knife, this is the place. Even though Korin is known as knife heaven, their dinnerware is awesome too!
